We read diverse texts within the field of STS, but with a focus on ANT and material semiotics.
Authors whose work we have recently read include: Donna Haraway, Londa Schiebinger, Bruno Latour, Sarah Whatmore, Timothy Choy, Isabelle Stengers, Vinciane Despret, Teun Zuiderent-Jerak, Stefan Helmreich, Des Fitzgerald, Felicity Callard, Annemarie Mol, Marisol de la Cadena, Astrid Schrader, Marilyn Strathern, Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, Chunglin Kwa, Michel Serres and John Law.
Next meeting we will delve into the philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead:
– from Whitehead, we read Nature and Life (1934) two lectures around the relationships between nature, philosophy and science;
– and as an introduction to his work, we will read an article from Halewood and Michael, “Being a Sociologist and Becoming a Whiteheadian: Toward a Concrescent Methodology”
